DIY Projects: Beet Lip & Cheek Stain – Technique #1

Things you need:
Measuring spoon
1 Beet peeled and chopped
3 Tbs vegetable glycerin
Double boiler or bowl & pot/pan
Strainer
Small bowl or jar
Wax paper
Lip container (can be purchased on amazon)
Latex gloves (Optional)

Instructions:

1.  Wash the beet and peel the outside of the beet
I like to cover my cutting board with wax paper because beets can stain.

2. Cut the beet and pour 3 tablespoons of vegetable glycerin

3. Put the cut beets in the double boiler for 25-30mins
I don’t have a double boiler so I used a bowl and put on top of sauce pan that’s filled with water.

4. Pour the beet juice in the strainer and jar/bowl

5. Leave the strainer on top of a clean jar or bowl
This will help get as much beet liquid as possible.

6. Pour it in a few small lip containers and used it for both lips & cheeks tint/stain. It last about 1 month and it can last up to 2 – 3 months in the refrigerator.

Note:  This DIY technique is easy and less messy… Most importantly, it’s natural and no toxic chemicals!

DIY Project: Beet Lip & Cheek Stain – Technique #2

Things you need:
Measuring spoon
1 Beet peeled and chopped
2 Tbs Olive Oil
2 Tbs Almond oil or Jojoba Oil or Coconut oil
2 Tbs Honey
Blender
Strainer
Small bowl or jar
Wax paper
Lip container (can be purchased on amazon)
Latex gloves (Optional)

Instructions:

1.  Wash the beet and peel it the outside of the beet
Again, I like to cover my cutting board with wax paper because beets it can get messy.

2. Cut the beet
Cut the beet in to cubes.

3. Put the beet cubes in the blender
I used my magic bullet and mix all the ingredients together (Olive Oil, Jojoba Oil & Honey).

4. Blend all together until smooth
I added more oil so there’s more liquid.

5. Pour the beet juice in the strainer and jar/bowl.

6. Pour it in a few small lip containers and used it for both lips & cheeks. It last about 1 month and I think it can last up to 2 - 3 months in the refrigerator.

Note: For more juice, press the beets out from the strainer or kept adding more oil while blending. This DIY technique has more ingredients and can be very messy… Nevertheless, it’s natural and no toxic chemicals!
